Jim & Julie have served as missionaries in Northeast Brazil since 1988. Sent by Grace Baptist Church, Austin, MN, and serving with Baptist Mid-Missions, their mission is to preach the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ, and to make disciples among the Brazilian people.
During their first term of service they worked in João Pessoa, on the easternmost tip of the Americas. In 1992 they moved interior to the Cariri Valley where they have lived in the city of Crato. They work with the Cariri Baptist Bible College, the Source of Light Bible Correspondence School, and assisting in the formation of churches.
They have three grown children:
Josiah is married to Nikki, and they live in Ankeny, IA, with Jeremy and Lydia, their grandchildren.
Joy Anna is married to Fabio Volpi and serves with her husband as missionary in the far south of Brazil.
Jennifer lives close to mom and dad, and teaches English, makes brownies, and helps in the ministry.
